Ray Bland is a specialist with over 30 years ASEA/ABB programming experience, whose training course delivery is known for being both by-the-book and production-oriented. Being this long in the business has meant contact over the years with other specialists having complementary skills, and that network of contacts has been maintained.

Ray began to work with the application of ASEA/ABB robots in early 1980 as a manufacturing engineer with a leading role in the ground-breaking robotic MIG-welding installation pictured above (more info on this project here and some general memorabilia here). He has been freelance since 1984 supplying services in system feasibility & concepting, installation, production programming & start-up, offline programming, process development, training in programming & operation: this wide background ensures practical depth to any training.  Delivery of specifically ABB training, always a key service, has included:

  • provision of courses for ESAB ArcRobotics (later to be absorbed by ABB globally) in Stevenage and Andover from 1984 to 1990
  • provision of courses for ABB UK at their robot training centre in Milton Keynes and elsewhere since 1997 – ongoing
  • on-site training courses delivered direct to over 100 end-user companies since 1985

Course content has ranged from the standard ABB Programming & Operation courses through to very bespoke to suit the operating environment in multi-machine, multi-process operations.
